Octavo, five inserted plates including color frontispiece with drawings by "a native artist," original decorated black cloth. First edition. Six stories, some rather long. A sequel of sorts to a previous collection, from the same author and publisher, of material translated from a "well-known Chinese collection of stories, the '…Chin Ku Ch'i Kuan'," which first appeared in the seventeenth century. The stories are accompanied by a total of 69 notes, making this a useful reference work for scholars. A very good copy. An uncommon book. (#115368).
