Loosely based on Richard Connell's story, "The Most Dangerous Game," about a novelist spending his days in a self-imposed exile in Central America. Hollywood fashion and costume designer chronicles his career beginning in Europe after serving in the First World War working for Paul Poiret and Molyneux. With his return to the United States in 1921, he became a costume designer for Famous Players Lasky, which became Paramount Studios, and became most notable for his glamorous wardrobes. When his contract ran out at Paramount in 1927, he opened Greer, Inc., his own couture house. His specialty was creating evening wear and cocktail dresses "that he specifically designed to look good seated at a table." Greer never gave up his work with the motion picture studios, designing film wardrobes for those studios with no in-house designer. His celebrity clientele ranged from Theda Bara to Shirley Temple, with his career ranging from the 1920s and into the early 1960s. [Vintage Fashion Guild site] 7 leaves of b&w halftone photo plates and frontispiece. (8-1/2"x5-3/4").
