Menu; 9 1/2 x 6; off-white stock, illustrated with a woodblock print to recto and text to verso; very mild wear - in near fine condition.A beautiful menu for the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite (the latter known as one of the crown jewels of the national park lodges), it was created by noted artist, printmaker, and illustrator Della Taylor Hoss (1900 - 1997). Born in Illinois, she studied at Stanford and at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco and lived in the Yosemite Valley from 1928 until 1942 with her husband Herman Hoss - Federal Magistrate and Treasurer of Yosemite Park and Curry Company. Known for her love of the Sierras, she would create some of the most iconic and memorable images of Yosemite, including maps, paintings, and posters.

Self-printed photo-illustrated softcovers, center fold as issued (minor dustsoiling), NF copy. First edition, thus, of this promotional brochure touting the attractions of visiting Yosemite National Park for vacation, as well as the advantages of riding in the Yosemite Transportation System (Y.T.S.) stage buses with open canopies "a proper impression of the grandeur." Hoss (1901-1997) seldom drew maps, and is best remembered for her book Trees of Yosemite, as well as illustrator for Ansel Hall's Location Map Mesa Verde National Park. She was married to Hermon Hoss, the attorney for the Yosemite Park & Curry Co., and also the sister of noted pictorial map creator, Ruth Taylor White (1902-1985).
