Hardcover. Condition: Very Good-. No Dust Jacket. 1st Limited, Large Paper, Edition. LARGE PAPER LIMITED EDITION - apparently of only 100 copies but no limitation shown. Measures 11¼" x 9" Tall. In the publisher's original dark BLUE-green cloth binding with gilt titling to the spine and front board. Externally very good, with minor shelf-wear, the corners are rubbed/soft, and some 'pushing'/bumping to the head and tail of spine. Page fore-edges clean but lightly 'toned with age. All hinges tight. Internally, floral patterned endpapers. A gift note in welsh in old ink on the reverse of the front free endpaper. Foxing (pale tan spotting) to these pages front and back. The rest of the text block is Very Good and printed on glossier paper, bright and clean throughout, EXCEPT on pages 25/26 where there is an old semi-circular tear, repaired at some point in the past with old glue (? ) I think - the glue or whatever was used has coloured over the years and made a mark - but no loss and all text/illustration readable/clear. The opposite page - 27 - is smudged but no damage and all text clear. Otherwise apart from an odd scattered mark to the occasional page the book is generally VG inside. 291 pp + (1 page = other works by the Author). Copiously illustrated throughout with 160 illustrations, both full page and text illustrations, many of which are the author's own pen and ink drawings. Turner was deemed a skilful illustrator, and later in life became an accomplished artist in water-colours. This copy is undated, but is dated via his other works/online refs. The author's advertisements to the rear of the text show 2 options to most of his books - the ordinary trade edition and a Large paper special at extra cost. This is one of those Specials. "This lesser-known yet fascinating work provides a fascinating historical, picturesque and geographical account of the county of Ceredigion/Cardigan, Wales. Ernest Richmond Horsfall-Turner was best known for his interest in local Welsh history and geography, despite being born in Yorkshire and not a native in Wales. This book is overweight at nearly 2 Kilos and may require extra postage for International buyers, depending on your location. See Images; 4to 11" - 12" Tall.
