Two notable papers are Arthur O.Loverjoy's 'The Meanings of 'Emergence' and its Modes' and G.Elliot Smith's 'The Philosophical Background of Ethnological Theory', there are also short surveys of recent philosophy and psychology books, the latter by Beatrice Edgell plus book reviews of works including Whitehead's 'Religion in the Making' (by Susan Stebbing), Head's 'Aphasia and Kindred Disorders of Speech' (by John Laird) and William Brown's 'Mind and Personality' (by Aveling). Finally there is a 'Correspondence' section in which 2 reviewed authors take great exception to their reviewers, who then respond robustly (Stebbing again being one of them).
