Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Near Fine. First Edition. First edition. Founded in 1904, the Denver & Interurban Railroad Company provided passenger rail service between Denver and Boulder, Colorado until its demise in the early 1930s. The line also carried passengers to Eldorado Springs, Marshall and Louisville, a map of which for…med a shape which looked like a kite, thus the name "Kite Route." With dozens of historic black & white photos, as well as maps, schematic drawings of cars, and multiple facsimiles of company documents. With laid-in folded black & white panoramic photo of aftermath of a head-on collision of two D&I trains which resulted in the death of 14 passengers in 1920. --- In gloss red-orange paper-covered boards with spine titling in black. Jacket features one of the line's electrified cars and a representation of the "kite" route map to front panel. --- A clean, bright, newish copy lacking damages worthy of mention. Jacket also in great shape, but with retailer's back-panel sticker.; Small Quarto - 9 to 11 in. tall; 159 pages.
