Good in acceptable+ dust jacket. Pale green paper over boards with black lettering on spine. Light bumping and scuffing to edges and corners of covers…. Bottom inch of front free end paper and half-title page have started to pull away from binding but are still attahced. Previous owner's name in ink on top corner of front free end paper. Otherwise pages are lightly aged but unmarked. Dust jacket has two 1.5" tear both repaired with tape (from the back side of jacket) and several other small nicks and tears and creasing along edges. Moderate overall scuffing, aging and soiling to jacket as well. NOT price clipped. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. Not Ex-library. No remainder marks. Full color plates. [From front jacket flap] A popular series of art books each containing 24 color plates. Reacting against the Impressionist painters, whose object was to render a faithful visual impression, the group of artists known as Expressionists wanted to show the ideas and emotions beneath the surface of the visible world. This conception of painting, which flourished during the first decade of the century, influenced many of the greatest European painters, including Rouault, Klee, Chagall, and Kokoschka. Reproductions from the works of these and other artists are included in this volume, and each plate is accompanied by a page of notes on the artist and the picture. The introductory essay gives a short and lucid survey of the movement as a whole.
