Large 4to bound in full tan 19th century calf gilt, boards stained and soiled, spines rubbed, the leather is split to the upper joint of vol. I but joint is sound, lower joint tender. Vol. II has been recased with original spine laid down. Marbled endpaers. Pagination. Vol. I: cxci, [i], 219, [1] blank, [4] index and corrections; Vol. II, [ii], 440, [4]. index and corrections. Frontis. to each volume, 53 copper plates & five hand coloured maps, 2 of which are single page campaign trails with a line in red, 1 single page coloured map and 2 folding coloured maps, 1 of which is very large and to rear of vol. II. Armorial bookplates of The Royal Military College to front pastedown of vol. I and of F. Wyatt Edgell of Milton Place, Surrey, to the top of this in hand is "Presented to the College by". Prelims foxed, light water staining to top margin of 6 of the plates of vol. I and 2 of the plates of vol. II, not affecting illustrations. Generally a clean set of this classic piece of Welsh travel literature.
