Japanese Beauty, publicado en 1997, pertenece al periodo en el que Hiromix se convirtió en una de las figuras más reconocibles de la nueva fotografía japonesa de los años noventa. El libro recoge el universo inmediato de la fotógrafa: amigas, habitaciones, calles de Tokio, noches, viajes, moda, autorretratos y pequeños momentos cotidianos fotografiados desde una posición completamente personal. Hiromix utiliza la cámara como una prolongación de su propia vida. Sus imágenes, aparentemente espontáneas y despreocupadas, poseen una estética deliberadamente directa: encuadres imperfectos, flash frontal, colores intensos y situaciones que parecen haber sido fotografiadas justo antes de desaparecer. No existe una separación clara entre fotógrafa y protagonistas; Hiromix pertenece al mismo mundo que está fotografiando.
