A very scarce and unique edition of the beloved fairy tale 'Sleeping Beauty', with entertaining moveable parts. With a total of nine leaves of colour plates, six of which are moveable plates,… as well as colour lithograph pages of text. The moveable parts are defective, with some loss to the parts.The tab for the first plate is detached but present, the moveable part not working. The second plate is lacking the moveable part. Third plate is lacking the moveable part. Sixth plate is lacking most of the moveable arm, however the thorn bushes are in working order, if a little tender. Eighth plate is mostly complete but a little tender.Translated from the German of the Brothers Grimm to English, by Erica von Baravalle.Beautifully and colourfully illustrated by Hilde Langen who, after beginning her career as a costume seamstress, had her artistic breakthrough with her 1926 'Snow White'. In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and boards. Minor bumping to the tail of the spine and to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head of the spine. Light marks and discolouration to the boards, including a few small tide marks. Paper to the tail of the rear board is lifting. Front endpaper is edge worn. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots. The tab for the first plate is detached but present, the moveable part not working. The second plate is lacking the moveable part. Third plate is lacking the moveable part.
