Thirteen traditional songs of the Baganda of southern Uganda, each with the story that accompanies it, collected by William Moses Serwadda from his own family and community in the Bukunja area near Lake Victoria. Texts are given in Luganda with phonetic spelling and an English translation, set to conventional musical notation so the songs can be sung in the original rather than in translation. Serwadda taught in the Department of Music, Dance and Drama at Makerere University, Kampala, and sang with the Nyonza Singers; Hewitt Pantaleoni, who transcribed and edited, was an ethnomusicologist trained at Harvard with a doctorate in world music from Wesleyan.
