Open Champion in 1902, the first using the Haskell wound rubber-core ball, Sandy Herd had staying power finishing second in the Open on three occasions, the last when he was 52 years of age! He also won one of his two British PGA Championships when over 50! Interesting chapter on American Golf (Head toured the USA with J.H. Taylor.) Green cloth slightly lifted from boards in several spots, light wear, contents clean, unfoxed. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Sandy Herd (1868-1944) was the club professional at Huddersfield Golf Club from 1892 to 1911. In 1902, he narrowly won the Open at Hoylake, beating Harry Vardon and James Braid at the final hole.
