Gr.4° (325x230mm) 10 Photo-gravures by Heinrich (Jindrich) Koch (1896-1934) Czech photographer, graduated from secondary school in Uherské Hradic and in 1915 to 1918 studied law and art history at the University of Vienna. He then continued his education at the Academy of Art in Vienna, a…nd studied sculpture under Jan tursa at the Academy of Fine Art in Prague. In 1922, he apparently became the first Czech student at Bauhaus in Weimar, where he concentrated on architecture, advertisements, and interior design. He also began to apply himself to photography, which he studied under Hans Finsler at the School of Applied Art Giebichenstein near Halle. In 1929 he married Benita Koch, the head of the weaving department, and a former Bauhaus student whom he had met in Dessau several years before. In 1932, after Finsler left for Zurich, Koch became his successor, and fifteen months later he headed the department of photography at Giebichenstein. With the rise of the Nazis to power he was expelled and had to leave for Prague, together where in 1934 he was accepted as photographer at the National Museum. Shortly after he was killed in a traffic accident. The Museum of Decorative Arts organized an exhibition on his work in 1934, and the State Graphic Arts School issued a modest publication with reproductions of his photographs following the style of New Objectivity. Vytvarna Vychova (Art Education, Anthology of Artwork, Design and Visual Training) was a series of books issued from 1935 to 1944 in four numbers per year. Each number holds 56 pages of instructions, lessons, and discussion of art and…design principles, with copious illustrations throughout, many in color. Edited by Josef Vydra (1884-1959) artist, ethnologist, art theorist. Vydra was an art educator of first magnitude working in Bratislava and Brno. He teamed with legendary Ladislav Sutnar (1897-1976) who had longtime interests in art education, toys and crafts as learning tools, and Karel Herain (1890-1953), art historian and Curator of the Decorative Arts Museum (Umeleckoprumyslové Muzeum) in Prague to assemble some of the best minds and talents of Czechoslovakia and beyond to produce a series of ideas and practicalities in visual design. Contributors included Zdenek Rossmann, Antonín Heythun, Ernst Kállai, L'udovit Fulla, Mikulas Galanda, Ladislav Zak, Fernand Léger, Jan Tschichold, Zdenek Pesánek, V.V. Stech, Karel Capek, Sutnar and Vydra among many others--- artists, teachers and designers, historians and theorists--- whose names cited above reflect the highest quality of imparting artistic skills to students, young and old. All manner of a fine and industrial arts curriculum will be found in these pages, from painting, drawing, sculpture, drafting, furniture design and making, toys (a Sutnar specialty), photography and film, graphic art and design, crafts, etc., -- in short, what engages the eyes, hands, and tools for creation and production. Oktober 1859 in Deutsch Zlatnik (Slatinice), Bezirk Brüx, Böhmen; gest. 29. Juni 1913 in Cernosice bei Prag), war ein böhmischer Male…r und Zeichner. Jansa studierte an der Kunstakademie Prag bei Antonín Lhota (1812-1905) und anschließend an der Wiener Akademie bei Eduard von Lichtenfels und Leopold Carl Müller und war seit 1891 in Prag als Maler und Zeichner tätig. Sein Werk umfasst eine Vielzahl von Landschaftsdarstellungen, insbesondere des Riesengebirges. Daneben schuf er etwa 250 Aquarelle von historischen Denkmälern in Prag und Städten in Böhmen, Ungarn, Dalmatien, der französischen Riviera und beteiligte sich an Ausstellungen in Prag.
