The binding remains tight and black silk boards display just minor wear to extremities. The dust wrapper has a few closed tears to edges/lower front tip but overall certainly remains presentable. Very little reference work on snuff bottles existed when Henry Hitt put together his first and second (1945) privately printed editions of this text and one supplement. This first edition of the 1978 Tuttle publication brings together both of his original editions plus the supplement. Essentially, this work was republished by Tuttle so as not to lose Hitt's otherwise-unavailable original, scholarly work. Well illustrated (see photos) throughout and reprinted as written by Hitt. One beautiful color tipped-in image in front. Includes an original Japanese Tuttle (the publisher) purchase receipt. Fine. Difficult to find in this condition. Text is pristine. Not ex-lib, no owner markings, underlinings, etc. No foxing.…
