Used - Very Good.Collections of Ancient, Classical & Medieval literature are anthologies that have been compiled in order to demonstrate the works of a number of ancient, classical or medieval authors. Poetry as an art form predates written text, with the earliest poetry having been recited or sung, and employed as a way of remembering oral history. The oldest examples of epic poetry include the Epic of Gilgamesh from Bablylon and the Greek epics The Iliad and The Odyssey, and the Indian Sanskrit epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. The longest epic poems in history were the Mahabharata and the Tibetan Epic of King Gesar. Aristotle's Poetics considered that there were three genres of poetryâ??the epic, the comic, and the tragic. Later aestheticians epic poetry, lyric poetry, and dramatic poetry. One of the most popular form since the Late Middle Ages, is the sonnet, which by the 13th century had become standardized as fourteen lines following a set rhyme scheme. The form had crystallized further by the 14th century and the Italian Renaissance, under the guidance of Petrarch. Titles that are fiction anthologies are collections of fiction works chosen by the compiler. They may be a collection of stories by different authors. Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades.…

Contact seller4-star sellerHardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. This set of 6 out of 10 volumes of the Best of the World's Classics were edited by Henry Cabot Lodge and published in 1909 by Funk and Wagnalls. Included in this set are volumes I, III, IV, V, VII, and VIII. The exterior of these books looks terrible. Mold or insects have gotten to them. However, the insides are near fine. I flipped through the pages of each of the volumes and saw no underlining, no extra marks, and just a few dog-eared corners. The bindings are strong and hold the pages tightly. There is some minor discoloration on the end papers. There are no dust jackets. Please see the pictures for more details. The books come from a smoke free home. They will be sent by Media Mail through the US Post Office within two days of receiving the order, usually sooner. I am always happy to combine shipping and/or offer discounts for multiple purchases.…
