All page-edges bright gilt-colour. Blotching to title-pages and frontispiece, ink name/address to frontis rear dated 1909, but book is Victorian, although undated. Pages clean and sound. An attractive old volume.

Condition: Very Good. Hardcover book . 776 pages with 8 engraved plates and frontis. ' Being a sure and complete guide to every acquirement essential in forming a pleasing companion and respectable Mother. A Very Good copy but with a worn half-leather binding with marbled end-papers. Title and gilt decoration to spine is still bright with crackling or leather surface. Edges rubbed with marbled paper covering missing in some areas as is one rear leather corner cover. The original binding is holding however although stretched. The Plates are clean as is the contents. There are two title pages, the first with a small steel vignette l engraving opposite the frontispiece. The Second Title page (slightly loose) shows ' Mrs. Hemans' Female Instructor or Young Woman's Companion, interspersed with Moral and Religious essays , interesting tales and Memoirs of illustrious Women to which are subjoined Medicinal receipts. The plates have very odd light foxing spots but are generally very clean. Pictures available.
