Two volumes bound in one. 8vo up to 9½" tall. Volume 1 355pp., Volume 2 153pp. Half suede leather over marbled boards, red speckled edges. Light and sporadic foxing marks and otherwise contents are clean without markings, tears or folds. Boards have rubbing to leather and moderate wear; binding is secure. Reginald Heber (1783-1826) was an English Anglican bishop, a man of letters, and hymn-writer. He served as Bishop of Calcutta until his death at the age of 42. The Last Days of Bishop Heber, provides a detailed account of Heber's life and work, including his travels throughout India, his interactions with local communities, and his efforts to promote education and social reform. Thomas Robinson was chaplain to Reginald Heber and traveled with him throughout southern India in 1825-26. He was present when Heber drowned and preached and published a funeral sermon.
