Hardcover. Condition: Very Good +. No Jacket. Possible First. Green cloth boards with light color loss at tips and spine ends, no major rub through. Light soil mark on fore edge of frt board, small bookstore stamp at foot of rep, no names or tears inside. Foxing on edge of pg block, text clear. 14 illustrations, 159 p. Presentable crisp copy lacking the dj. Published 1942, this binding conforms to the binding economy standard so could be a first but does not say so. From the preface: This is a fishing book; and, as fishermen like reading about fishing when the cannot fish, I hope that, at the present time especially when it is a relief to turn away for an hour or so from the war, some fishermen will find time to read it. I hope too, that it will not be thought, because I have added a chapter on foxhunting and two on shooting that i have any claim to be regarded as a horseman or a shot. I have only included those chapters to show what happy memories the most ineffective performer can cherish of days with Horn and Gun as well as with Rod. Frontis photo is charming and laughable. Author stands behind his son, watching him fish, caption reads: ."almost irresistible temptation to snatch the rod.
