Contemporary full pan…eled calf, gilt, with early owner's name to front boards. Older rebacking on leather with much of original spine relaid. Covers worn, with hinges starting again, and some cloth reinforcement to inner hinges. Marbled endpapers with old Dublin bookseller's label in volume I. Early owner's name and date (1817) to front leaf. Varied toning and staining to text, but in all a neat and intact, generally bright, and usefully sound set. 19 (of 20) plates: lacks the plate of St. John the Evangelist; the large fold-out chronology "Tree of Life" is wrinkled and misfolded, but complete and legible.
