Original Green Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition Thus. 1986. First edition thus (STS 4th series, No. 16). xx, 248pp. Gilbert Hay (born c.1403, last mentioned in 1456) was a Scottish poet and translator, and perhaps a kinsman of the house of Errol. His only poetic work is 'The Buik of King Alexander the Conquerour', of w…hich a portion, in copy, formerly at Taymouth Castle, now lies in the National Records of Scotland. Another copy, believed to be an earlier version, on which the Taymouth copy is based, can be found at the British Library. The present book is a more accessible version of both, with a detailed textual analysis of the differences. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The book comes in a clear plastic wrapper, as issued.
