The backstrip & rear wrap are lacking. The cover is bumped, chipped & lightly soiled. Pages A-D [ads] & 67 pages, including additional ads. Numerous sepia-toned & black-and-white illustrations & pictorial ads. 1 signature is detached with its front edges roughed & chipped. There are tears to the top edge & front edge of page 41 & to the top edges of pages 42-48. There is a piece out of the bottom corner of the last page. The top edges of the pages are rippled, probably from humidity. There is occasional soiling. Fair. "The Mentor" often highlighted a particular theme and this issue, published three months after Houdini's death, focused on magic and magicians. The March and April issues contain Houdini's two-part reminiscence of Johann N. Hofzinser, 1806-1875, "genius unheralded and unsung." The May number contains a three-page "Demand for Fair Play for Harry Houdini" directed to Dr. A.M. Wilson, editor of The Sphinx of Kansas City, in whose pages Mr. Houdini had declined to advertise. The May number also includes the announcement that Houdini's new book, "the Unmasking of Robert Houdin," has now been reduced in price from $2 to $1, with the author to "pocket the loss."
