In addition to Elliott's well-balanced appraisal there is an article by Robert Peel (US) stationed in the South Pacific, on the Ern Malley edition of Angry Penguins as well a piece on a similar spoof by a Jewish writer using the pseudonym Karl Neugebauer on monkeys & the master race which had won an 1934 competition for outstanding services to teutonica in Germany. Additionally there are poems by Angry Penguins editor Max Harris, Judith Wright, translations of Stefan Georg & Wang Wei. Ern wannabe Eliot's Four Quartets are reviewed by E.J. Stormon & A. D. Hope has a bash at everybody apart from James McAuley (one half of Ern). A scarce original item from the front line of "The Literary Hoax of the Twentieth Century" (Michael Heyward). Two inch tear at fore edge of front cover otherwise a little chipped with loss at over-sized yapped edges only. Contents clean.
