Hardcover. Condition: Very Good-. B&W Illustrations; 15 x10 3/4; 256 pages; Oblong shaped book has board covers and cloth spin. Boards have much rubbing, fraying, scuffing, sunning, bumping and a few marks. Front end paper has a vertical crease. Pages have some sunning and minor creasing. Few pages have marks, and a few have a s…mall, closed tear at bottom. Overall, pages are clean and tight. Book is arranged and edited by James H. Ware, War Photographer, with photographs by Victor K. Bulla, Robert L. Dunn, James F. J. Archibald, Richard Barry, Ashmead Bartlett, James Ricalton, together with an account of the battle of the Sea of Japan by Capt. A. T Mahan, USN, Retired. Lavishly illustated with 150+ b/w photographs. The Russo-Japanese War (190405) was fought between the Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan over rival imperial ambitions in Manchuria and Korea. The major theatres of operations were the Liaodong Peninsula and Mukden in Southern Manchuria and the seas around Korea, Japan and the Yellow Sea. This photo book was published at time of the war, 1905, by photographers who were on location for the conflict. This is an excellent representative sample of the type of war photos that enjoyed wide circulation in the United States, England, Europe, and Japan as advanced technologies made mass reproduction of such images feasible. Very oversized, 6#. Illustrated by Victor K. Bulla, Robert L. Dunn, James F. J. Archibald,Richard Barry, Ashmead Bartlett, James Ricalton (illustrator).
