He served three times as Prime Minister and many years as President of the Chamber of Deputies. Herriot also led the first Cartel des Gauches (Left Cartel), an alliance between the Radical-Socialist Party and the French Section of the Workers' International (SFIO). This book is a biography of French socialite Jeanne-Francoise Julie Adelaide Recamier (1777-1849) who is commonly known as Juliette Recamier. Recamier had a popular salon which drew many Parisians from leading literary and political circles.…
