Mildly ex-library, as library treatments have cleaned up nicely. Bound in thick boards, with red cloth and gilt lettering to spine and front cover. Exterior admits to a n…umber of small bumps, short tears and tiny chips to cloth, and some discoloration from various sources, including sunning and handling. General medium soiling to exterior, with some faint spots in places, as well as a small faded area where a sticker used to be on spine. Lower portion of front board admits to tiny white dots to approximately 1 square inch. Previous owner's bookplate (Rev. Frank J. Hardy of Ortonville, MI) and bookseller's label (Thomas Baker of London) to front paste-down. Mild cracking to paper over hinges. Tiny tears to extremities of a few pages, with absolutely no effect on the reading of the text. Text clean. Binding sound. Despite wear, overall, this remains a good, sound, user friendly copy that has maintained much of its original charm. Includes contributions by H. B. Briggs, W. Howard Frere, C. F. Abdy Williams, G. H. Palmer, including multiple contributions by 2 of these authors (2 by Briggs, 4 by Frere). Printer was Waterlow and Sons, Limited. SCARCE Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book.
