Published by Hamish Hamilton in 1948, here is the first hardback printing (in this series) of Guy De Maupassant's Bel-Ami (#17 Novel Library Series) Translated from the French by Eric Sutton. Decorated paper covered boards, quarter orange cloth binding, gilt spine lettering, 369 pages, the book is in near fine condition with a modicum of fading to the cloth. The dust jacket which replicates the design on the boards is good with some chipping and a few tears to the top and base of the spine. There is also some moderate spotting mainly to the insides. A nice little book.
