The reproduction quality is outstanding in every respect, superior to most published books on August Sander. Its clarity, luminousness, and warmth must be seen to be believed. Without DJ, as issued. One of the medium's most disciplined, rigorous, and dedicated practitioners, August Sander much preferred, however, to describe himself as a social scientist. Subsequent artists such as Avedon, on the one hand, Rineke Dijkstra and Charles Freger, on the other, among so many others, would not exist without August Sander's pioneering example. He anticipated Minimalism long before it was named as such, even as it remains the most influential aesthetics of contemporary photography, art, design, and architecture.
