The book is 8 1/4" by 11" and has 252 pages with an Index, a Preface by William Kala and . . . many, many older black-and-white photographs. "Grant's record of the Civil War years, gains a new, richer dimension because of vivid illustrations that picture many of the crucial battles in which he served - among them Belmont, Fort Henry, Fort Donelson, Shiloh, and Vicksburg.
