OBlatt. Wohl eine Gelegenheitsdichtung. - Faltspuren, stockfleckig, St., Gbrsp. - Graben-Hoffmann, (1820 - 1900), wurde am Lehrerseminar in Bromberg ausgebildet und war seit 1840 an der Stadtschule auf dem Graben in Posen tätig, woher der Zusatz in seinem Namen rührt. 1843 begann er ein Gesangs- und Kompositionsstudium in Berlin, trat, aus gesundheitlichen Gründen nur kurzzeitig, als Konzertsänger auf und war schließlich Gesangslehrer in Potsdam, wo er 1850 eine "Musikakademie für Damen" gründete. Daneben nahm G.-H. bis 1857 Kompositionsunterricht bei Moritz Hauptmann in Leipzig. 1858-68 unterrichtete er Gesang in Dresden, ging nach Schwerin und lebte von 1869 bis zu seinem Tod, mit einer kurzen Unterbrechung 1873 in Dresden, in Berlin. 1870 baute er dort eine "Gesangsakademie für Damen" auf. Neben zahlreichen Liedern, deren bekanntestes 500000 Teufel ist, schrieb G.-H. Duette, Chorlieder, Klavierstücke und einige pädagogische Werke (u.a. Die Pflege der Singstimme und die Gründe von der Zerstörung und dem frühzeitigen Verlust derselben, 1865). (DBE).

OU. * Gestochene Erstausgabe. - Der Pädagoge und Komponist Gustav Heinrich Graben-Hoffmann (eigentlich nur Hoffmann) siedelte 1843 nach Berlin über, nachdem er zuvor als Lehrer tätig gewesen war. Dort erhielt er bei dem Hofopernsänger Heinrich Stürmer eine Gesangsausbildung und wurde zudem Mitglied der Berliner Singakademie (MGG). Er wirkte als Gesangslehrer und Leiter von Gesangsvereinen in Dresden und Berlin. - Die "500000 Teufel", eine Vertonung eines Gedichts von E. W. Oettinger, ist sein bekanntestes Werk, das -in den Worten des Komponisten- "mein Glück als Liedercomponist begründet". - Humoristisches Titelblatt, auf dem nicht nur mehrere Teufel umherfliegen, sondern auch die Buchstaben des Kompositionstitels aus kleinen Teufelchen bestehen. - Am rechten Rand durchgehender Wasserfleck, ansonsten schönes, breitrandiges Exemplar.
