Illustrated throughout. A collection of the fables attributed to Aesop, a Greek fabulist and storyteller noted for his tales characterized by anthropomorphic animal characters. Many of the tales credited to him were gathered across the centuries and in many languages in a storytelling tradition that continues to this day. With titles including: The Cock and the Jewel, The Sick Lion, and The Viper and the File, amongst others. Edited by Gordon S. Maxwell, a British author and editor. Illustrated by Harrison William Weir, a British artist known as "The Father of the Cat Fancy". In the original cloth covered wraps. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Minor age toning to the extremities. Very Good. book.
