Edges toned; toning to initial and rear l…eaves with some scattered light soiling to interior pages; ink ownership inscription (dated 1986) at top of front flyleaf; past owner taped clippings onto blank pages [6] and [16] among the unpaged introductory section along with pencil and ink notes on rear flyleaf and rear free endpaper recto. Slight stress to binding between front flyleaf and limitation leaf but otherwise firm. Author's Edition limitation leaf features printed statement along with copy number and Cheerio signature in red felt tip ink, inscribee's name (Mrs. Samuel P. Wynne) written in blank ink in a different style handwriting. A good copy. Charles Kellogg Field, aka Cheerio, was editor of Sunset Magazine and a popular radio host on the San Francisco radio station KPO.

Copyright page dated 1912, stated sixth edition. 95 pages. In good condition. Covers have some fading and rubbing to cloth. Bumping along edges, spine, and corners have caused wear t…o cloth, partially exposing binding beneath. Hinge on back cover is split, but appears to have been glued back down. Although covers are a bit faded, the illustration on front cover remains quite bright and clear. Previous pricing written on front free endpaper in pencil; otherwise pages are free of marks or tears, with color illustrations throughout. Front and rear gutters are cracked, but binding remains strong; covers are firmly attached and there are no loose pages.
