Hardcover. Condition: VG. Portrait frontis in Volume 1 and engraved title pages in all four volumes. Bound in blue calf with gilt ruling on covers, raised bands on spine with morocco spine labels and elaborately decorated compartments. Marbled endpaper and edges. Heraldic bookplate of Edward Wood affixed to front pastedowns. Front board of Volume 2 and rear board of Volume 3 very nicely replaced by Meadland Bindery of Brentwood Bay, British Columbia in matching blue calf with gilt ruling. Varying degrees of wear to other boards, the most acute on the front cover of Volume 3, which has suffered extensive damage, without however affecting its essential integrity. Lesser damage to the rear board of Volume 2 and minor wear to the other boards. Foxing to title pages and preliminaries. In all cases the volumes are tight and solid and the calf remains smooth and glossy. A handsomely bound set of the most desired edition of Goldsmith's works.
