    Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First editions of volumes 1 and 2 of the 5 volume Italian legal work published between 1820 and 1826. Luxury binding in green morocco, red labels to the spine, green gilt decoration including the arms of the House of Bourbon (Legatura Borbonica), all edges gilt. With the labels of Lord Eldon, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain between 1801 and 1806 and again between 1807 and 1827, on the front pastedowns. Inscriptions in pencil on both title pages; vol. I ( "L[or]d Chancellor Eldon's 2 copies of 2", vol. II (L[or]d Chancellor Eldon's first copy of two). In near fine condition, some paste stains on yellow eps. Another copy of these first 2 volumes was sold by Christies in London 18 June 2012, lot 276, with the following catalogue entry; "PRESENTATION BINDING of Italian straight-grained green morocco gilt with armorial crest of the King of Naples and Sicily on sides, gilt edges. With author's autograph letter, dated Naples 28 April 1821, stating that he has already sent two unacknowledged copies of vol. I, and is now forwarding 2 copies of vol. II, one for Lord Eldon ('dalla fama gloriosa giunta fino a questo Cratere delle virtu' morali, e politiche') and one for the King.".
