Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware -The 12th iteration of the Swiss sculpture exposition 'Le Mouvement' writes a brilliant new chapter in the project's sixty-year history with the most radical presentation the format has yet seen. In keeping with its tradition of thought-provoking interventions, 'Le Mouvement--Performing the C…ity' undertakes a searching interrogation of the definition of art in the public sphere: it features not a single work of sculpture and is instead entirely dedicated to the genre of performance art in public settings. The two curators Gianni Jetzer (New York) and Chris Sharp (Mexico City) have conceived an exhibition that places particular emphasis on the human body in physical and social action. The book accompanying the exhibition presents unique documentary materials to introduce readers to legendary historic performance pieces since 1963 and surveys contemporary positions. The roster of fifty-nine contributing artists reads like a who is who of performance art today.; Der Titel der 12. Schweizerischen Plastikausstellung lautet Le Mouvement. Vito Acconci, luciana achugar, Ai Weiwei, Francis Alys, Alexandra Bachzetsis,Nina Beier, Max Bill, Ulla von Brandenburg, Pablo Bronstein, Stanley Brouwn, Trisha Brown, Paulo Bruscky, Egle Budvytyte, Carl Burckhardt, Alex Cecchetti, Martin Creed, Willi Dorner, Douglas Dunn, Franz Eggenschwiler, Felipe Ehrenberg, VALIE EXPORT, Simone Forti, Alicia Frankovich, Dara Friedman, Gelitin,Tomislav Gotovac, Alberto Greco, Anna Halprin, Maria Hassabi, Noritoshi Hirakawa, Sanja Ivekovic , Christian Jankowski, San Keller, Koeppl/Zacek, Jiri Kovanda, Germaine Kruip, Myriam Lefkowitz, Je rome Leuba, Klara Lide n, Lin Yilin, Marko Lulic , Liz Magic Laser, Babette Mangolte, Rachel Mason, Dave McKenzie, Dieter Meier, Ieva Miseviciute, Olivier Mosset, Ocana, Nesa Paripovic , Ewa Partum, Alexandra Pirici, Miervaldis Polis, Prinz Gholam, Ariana Reines, Kim Sooja, Mladen Stilinovic , Beat Streuli, Rirkrit Tiravanija. 296 pp. Deutsch, Französisch, Englisch.

Hardcover. Condition: New. *** FREE UPGRADE to Courier/Priority Shipping Upon Request *** - *** IN STOCK AND IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE FOR SHIPMENT - Flawless copy, brand new, pristine, never opened -- Text in German and English. 136 pp. -- with a bonus offer--; In 1960, the Swiss artist Jean Tinguely was asked to build a sculpture…to be installed in the Sculpture Garden of New York s Museum of Modern Art. In collaboration with other artists and engineers, he constructed the self-destructive machine Homage to New York, which operated for 27 minutes during a public happening. It paid homage to the energy of a city that keeps recreating itself. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tinguely s action, the Museum Tinguely in Basel and the Swiss Institute in New York will mount a group show entitled Under Destruction, presenting today s aesthetic potential of destruction, in which 20 international artists will investigate the role of destruction in contemporary art. Reflected from different angles, destructivity can be anything ranging from a creative act to a memento mori of the environment, from prosperity trash to a poetic transformation. Fifty years ago, the focus was the vision of an apocalypse through atomic wars. Today, the many different works are primarily inspired by critical evaluations of consumerism and surplus production. Artists: Nina Beier + Marie Lund, Monica Bonvicini, Pavel Buchler, Nina Canell, Jimmie Durham, Alex Hubbard, Alexander Gutke, Martin Kersels, Michael Landy, Liz Larner, Christian Marclay, Kris Martin, Ariel Orozco, Michael Sailstorfer, Arcangelo Sassolino, Jonathan Schipper, Ariel Schlesinger, Roman Signer, and Johannes Vogl. Texts: Barbara Casavecchia, Boris Groys, Martin Herbert, Justin Hoffmann, Gianni Jetzer, Piper Marshall, Chris Sharp, Roland Wetzel, and Michael Wilson.
