Illustration is and vibrantly colorful. There is wear along edges. Corners are lightly bumped. Inscription on FEP in beautiful handwriting, from 'Daddy' dated March 1948. DJ, which has same picture as cover is chipped and worn along edges and folds. DJ is now protected in mylar jacket. This book is 80+ years old; the DJ has done a fine job of protecting the covers. OCLC shows only 4 holding libraries. Gertrude Blumenthal also wrote several other books for children, including LOUISE'S ADVENTURE, HER RIDE IN THE SUBWAY (1941), CHANGEABLE CHARLIE (1942), TIT FOR TAT TOMMY (1944), and FLOWER BOX SURPRISE (1953). Blumenthal was employed by Simon and Schuster to direct one of their publishing divisions and edited a series of biographies for young people. At her death in 1973, she left more than 240 volumes in print. Corinne Malvern [1901/1906-1956, her birth date is debated] was an American commercial artist, fashion advertising artist and illustrator of children's books from the early 1930s until she died in 1956.
