Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. First Edition; First Printing. B&W Photographs & Color Plates; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 246 pages; 1939 Crown Publishers. Stout oversize HC/DJ. 1st edition. Soundly bound and unmarked in original color pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated with b&w photographs and halftones along with about 30 plates from paintings by Matisse, Picasso, Berard etc. Generally quite neat but with light to moderate doxing to front edge of page block and some foxing to the front edges of the color plates and occasionally to edge of adjacent pages of text. Expected toning in the endpage gutters almost ubiquitous in books printed in the 30's. Just trace shelf evidence to jacket edges, short closed tear to crown of spine panel and mild dulling at spine. Laid in at rear is a 1943 program for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo prsentation of Les Sylphides at the Locust Theater in Philadelphia. VG/VG+.
