Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Reprint. 272pp. Blue cloth-covered boards with black titles on spine. 12mo. Cloth faded around edges gently rubbed and rounded on extreme corners and spine ends. Text block edges a little toned. Previous owner's name (dated 1949) neatly inked on the front free endpaper else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original Hodder and Stoughton yellow jacket, price clipped, shelf worn, gently rubbed on extreme edges, very slightly sunned over spine. Dust wrapper is a removable, clear film sleeve. A popular series of reprints of the works of contemporary writers, Hodder and Stoughton issued their yellow jackets from the 1920s to the early 1940s, paused during the war and then had a brief revival in the 1950s. The series comprises mysteries, westerns, detective stories and thrillers for the most part, and are easily recognised by their distinctive yellow background (albeit reminiscent of the Gollancz yellow jacket series), often fronted with bold and colourful illustrations.
