Part memoir and part inspirational reader, It's Never Too Late details William Moss's journey (1920-2017) from small-town Texas to a stint in Hollywood (as an actor…and producer, known for The Big Cat, Kilroy was Here, and Let's Go Steady), and onward to the height of business successes in Texas and New York, and at the center of political power in Washington, DC. Late in life, however, the endless martinis in exclusive clubs come to feel empty, and the author begins to align his life closer to God, culminating in finding the love partner of his life and later realizing, at the age of 85, that he is an alcoholic. So begins his road to recovery. Having turned around his life, the author not only offers his story, but thoughts, inspirational prayers, and scriptures that have helped in his journey and that will prove useful for anyone in recovery. William Moss was born Odessa, Texas in 1920. He has acted in Hollywood films, founded a television production company, helmed The Petroleum corporation and William Moss Oil corp., served on the Board of Trustees and several other committees at American University, and, among numerous other political roles, served as chairman of former President George H. W. Bush's Drug Advisory council. Signed by Author.

Extended narrative recollection of an autumn hunting and camping trip in southwestern Missouri ("About 1905" in a pencil addition), in lands first settled after the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-1812. From Whiting, Da…nforth and a party of three friends head out to a cabin in the deep woods. Their host was manager of a lumber company, and the party visited Black bayou, Dead Cypress swamp, and St. James bayou, camping and cutting wood for their fires and exploring their surroundings. They hunted goose, squirrel, wild turkey, and other game. They also encounter a moonshining operation. Danforth writes knowledgeably about the terrain and forests through which they roamed. Part of their occupation was also as an advance crew for logging operations. In a footnote, Danforth notes: "Whiting has changed through the years. The mill is gone. The town, like Goldsmith's Deserted Village, is marked by only a few houses." George W. Danforth (1868-1960), born in southwest Missouri, was a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and naval officer, author of engineering textbooks and of What You Should Know about Snakes (1956), and long resident of Napa county, California. This work is apparently unpublished. An interesting and evocative account of woodland adventures in the Mississippi floodplain. Some toning to sheets. Stapled in chapters in upper left corner.
