Interior is clean and tight. Protected with clear mylar wrapper. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Original publication of Gen. William Grout's oration to the Society of Vermont Officers in November 1869. In recognition of the value of the General's speech, the Society resolved to have 1000 copies printed. Gen. Grout initialed entered the war as the Lt.Col. of the 15th Vermont Infantry. Later, promoted to General and commander of three brigades to defend Vermont's northern border following the St. Alban's Raid. Here he presents the Military Record of Vermont , including Colonial, Revolution and Civil War contributions. This first edition is not noted by Dornbusch, but includes it when reprinted in 1885 as part of the Proceedings of the Reunion Society of Vermont Officers, 1864-1884. REFERENCE: DORN #90.
