April 1713 (1793) in Stendal, studirte Anfangs Theologie in Jena, dann Medicin in Halle, Leipzig und Altdorf. Hier wurde er 1721 Doctor med. 1723 wurde er als Professor extr. der Medicin und Philosophie nach Halle berufen und 1730 als ordentlicher Professor der Anatomie, Pharmacie und Chemie nach Helmstädt. Später wurde er Mitglied der Berliner Akademie der Wissenschaften und Leibarzt des Herzogs von Braunschweig-Lüneburg. Er starb am 8. October 1750. Von hinterlassenen Schriften G.'s zählt die Biogr. med. etwa 49, theils Dissertationen, theils Programme, akademische Reden und Abhandlungen über verschiedene Gebiete der Medicin auf; die meisten davon sind in Helmstädt erschienen.
