This work reports the results of a study on the malacofauna of the Susa Valley conducted both on available historical data (bibliographic and museum data), and on unpublished data resulting from new research carried out between 1997 and 2006. In the area 159 species of molluscs (121 terrestrial and 38 freshwater), each of which is described and illustrated in a special chapter. The high number of species of molluscs living in the Susa Valley area is certainly linked to the geographical position of the valley, to its longitudinal and altimetric development, to its lithological, climatic and vegetational diversity.
