Super octavo hardcover (VG-) in d/w (VG-); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage cost.

Published to mark the centennial of the Universtity of Canterbury in 1973 this history of one of NZ most famour institutions of higher learning is presented in three choronological parts, the co-authors providing one each. The periods covered are 1873 -1918 (Gardner); 1918-1948 (Beardsley) and 1949-1973 (Carter), part four is a Past and Present endpiece by the editor, N C Phillips. The result is a detailed, informative and polished history of the university. 530 pages including 13 appendices, source notes, bibliography, index. 32 pages of b/w illustrations include many portraits, university buildings, notable events and general views, decorated front e/papers, map back e/papers. Red hard covers with gilt spine titles/university arms, VG+, text block excellent, no inscriptions. Pictorial DJ VG+ with few small chips.
