Contains the first printing of "Morning on the Wissahiccon," one of Poe's few nature related stories. Original, elaborate gilt-stamped leather binding. Joints are partly cracked, but holding strong. Interior hinges are not cracked. Slight corner and edge wear. All edges are gilt. Interior pages are mainly white and clean. Previous owner's gift inscription dated 1843 is on the front free end paper. Some foxing and browning at plates and tissue guards, typical for these early gift books.
