Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Book Club Edition. Here is "In the Clearing", a book of poetry by Robert Frost. This is the Sixth Printing, published in January 1964 by Holt, Rinehart and Winston. The book is a solid gray hardcover with a photo-pictorial dust-jacket. This copy happens to have been issued through a book club (No price on jacket, and has the small impression on the rear cover bottom corner). Excerpted from the jacket blurb : "On January 20, 1961, Robert Frost recited his poem, 'The Gift Outright', at the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy. This occasion marked the first time in the history of our country that a poet has been so honored; it also marked a high point in Frost's long and distinguished career. [ The poem is included in this book - starting on page 28] "Some of the new verses gathered in these pages evoke the fields and farms of New England; others speak of great deeds and universal truths in language that is as forthright and uncomplaining as Frost himself. The poems in this book are stirring examples of Frost's ability to see greatness in the familiar, and simplicity in the grandiose. A four-time Pulitzer-Prize winner, Frost has been honored by literary societies, colleges, and universities throughout the world. The United States Senate adopted the unprecedented resolution of felicitation on his seventy-fifth birthday; and in1958 he was appointed Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress, in recognition not only of his poetic talents, but of his boundless interest in the history of men and ideas."
