Trade paperback. Condition: Very Good. The Book is in Very Good+ condition. With the completion of the celebrated Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, architect Frank O. Gehry has entered the pantheon of twentieth-century masters. In this wholly unique new book, a condensed edition of the original volume of the same name, Gehry h…imself offers extensive and illuminating commentary on various aspects of the processes involved in developing his revolutionary designs, including his influences, clients, use of materials, and new technologies. Gehry Talks: Architecture + Process documents all of his new work of this decade, tracing his evolution from a southern California architect known for his idiosyncratic use of materials and collaboration with local artists, to an international figure whose fluid, hitherto undreamt-of forms surge beyond the aesthetic and technical constraints of the twentieth century.

Soft cover. Condition: New. 352 pages, Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white: 24 tables, 324 figures (134 in colour), 49 plates (b/w). This book analyses archaeological finds retrieved from the Akko marina and its surroundings. Analysis of structures and installations casts light on the harbour's building and dest…ruction cycles; for example, a 15th century wooden mole has been discovered, indicating previously unknown activity in that period. Hellenistic to late Ottoman period ceramics reveal the city's international connections and commerce. Glass artifacts and raw glass finds shed light on the famous local glass industry. Shipwrecks, anchors, rigging devices and cargoes starting from the Late Bronze Age tell us about shipbuilding and commercial ties. A unique 13th century hoard of gold florins reveals the last days of Crusader Akko as described in historical documents. Fishing gear indicates fishing activity and weapons and ammunitions provide a glimpse of the conflicts and battles in Akko and its role in local and world history. Numismatic, epigraphic, cartographic and photographic evidence of activity from the Hellenistic period onward depicts the harbour and associated facilities, including ancient and modern lighthouses, breakwaters, and other structures.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. SIGNED. Fine yellow cloth hardcover in near fine illustrated just jacket. Square 4to. 227 pp. Photos; illus.; index. Like Maurice Sendak, Hockney designed stage sets for opera and ballet performances. These were collected and presented in a retrospective…exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery in Minneapolis in 1983, from which this publication issued. Hockney had agreed to the Stage Design Exhibition at the Walker in 1980. But he wanted it to be more than sketches and drawings and decided to recreate models of the original stage scenery. Some of these were done in England and transported; while some were done in Minneapolis where Hockney spent a few months in 1983 prior to the opening. This book is inscribed "for Chuck" [Charles Helm] + Chris" and signed "David" followed by a doodle of a red cross, which is one of the ways Hockney finished his signature in the 1980s. Additionally, there is a label on the inner flap identifying the previous owner "C. Helm." Charles Helm was an exhibition designer for the Walker Art Center in 1983. He later served as the Directer of Performing Arts at the Wexner Center in Columbus, OH. (This is one of two books we have that were inscribed by Hockney to Helms). Ships fast with tracking. This is an oversized item that may require additional postage for international orders. We will contact for authorization beforehand. David Hockney (illustrator). Inscribed by Author(s).
