Autograph. Condition: Very Good. Original hand written letter fragment from Field Marshal Frederick Sleigh Roberts (1832-1914) from October 21, 1901 to Johnson Galloway. Field Marshall Roberts was one of the most successful British military commanders of his time who led British Forces during the last year of the Second Boer War and served as its last Commander-in-Chief of the Forces. As one of Britain's leading military figures, he became a symbol for the British Army and in later life became an influential proponent of stronger defense in response to the increasing threat that the German Empire posed to Britain in the lead up to the First World War.
