2nd, facsimile ed. Hardback small, dustjacket, very good condition (in very good dustjacket), frontispiece, fold-out map attached inside rear cover, faint foxing top edge, pages lightly toned, rubber stamp owner's name front pastedown. 88 pp. The story of the Jardine Expedition is that of two extraordinary men, Frank and Alexander Jardine. This account, edited by Frederick J. Byerley, is written mainly from their journal and diary notes. In May 1864 the Jardine's set off on a 1200 mile expedition from Rockhampton to Cape York with 8 men, 42 horses and 250 head of cattle. They hacked through jungles, crossed eight rivers, and battled through swamps, they lost 30 horses, and 200 cattle along the way, but survived despite the odds. This is one of the most amazing achievements in Australia's history.
