Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Original Edition. The Knickerbocker New York Monthly Magazine. April. 1855 Volume XLV No. 4. Several "Original Papers" including Frederick S. Cozzens, "A Californian Ballad", pages [331]-338. Original wraps, some loss to paper spine, few curled corners, owner's name on front cover and at top of the Contents leaf, defective margin in another piece with slight loss of text. Pagination complete from Contents leaf with copyright notice on recto, followed by pages [331]-440 plus 4pp of ads. Ballad of 3 miners prospecting for gold in California who are attacked by 11 or so men on Dec. 19, 1854. Two of the miners are killed but the third miner, Capt. Davis is able to kill all of the bandits with his two Colt revolvers and a bowie knife. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
