I am pleased to be able to offer a unique and now rather scarce book which documents the efforts of the African-American community in Savannah Georgia in 1960 s to desegregate the city. I quote from the Foreword for your further information: Forty-five years ago the photographer and journalist Frederick Baldwin returned to Savannah a city he had lived in and visited intermittently throughout his life. An emerging photojournalist and naturalist Baldwin arrived in Savannah at a critical moment in our city s history. The summer of 1963 and early 1964 marked the culmination of demonstrations-marches and advocacy by Savannah s African-American community that resulted in the relatively peaceful desegregation of the city. Please find then: Freedom s March Photographs of the Civil Rights Movement in Savannah by Frederick C. Baldwin. This large hard cover book (9 ¾ x 12 inches 106 pages) was the catalogue of an exhibition of the same name held at the Telfair Museum of Art from September 2008 to January 2009. The book is very well illustrated with 47 black-and-white photos by Frederick C Baldwin which are listed at the back of the book. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. The hard covers are bright and glossy with just some faint scuffing. There has been a bit of bumping to the head of the spine which left a small distortion to the rear gutter (nothing serious). Inside a former owner has left their name in the lower left-hand corner of the front endpaper. Otherwise, the book is unmarked and the pages and photo plates are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
