Beveled corners are worn, some decoration worn, spine sunned with tears at tail, some loss at head, patchiness. Paper toned, gift inscription front endpaper dated 1886, only date in book. Foldout map in rear. All orders packed with care, most dust jackets protected by Brodart sleeve, independent bookseller since 2011.

General wear, spine quite faded with light fraying along left front edge and spine extremities and at corners, some flecking, bumped, dents at lower rear edge, some spotting, hinges lightly cracked. Owner's name on verso of frontispiece, some foxing. Fold-out map at rear is missing its upper left section. All plates present. A handsome book. Pictures available on request.

Condition: Good. xvi, 303pp, 9 plates and a folding map at rear, a little spotting and one thumb smudge to pages, one plate (Bolton Abbey opposite p172) loose, blue/black endpapers, top edge gilt, original glazed red cloth with bevelled edges, gilt lettering and gilt and black decoration to spine and upper board, spine tanned with some damaged to top edge and a crease/crack in the cloth, binding feels a little loose. Size: 8.75 X 5.75 Inches. Topography.

Age related spotting to prelims and some pages, minor marks to some pages/edges. Otherwise pages are clean and surprisingly bright throughout. Some discolouration to page block edges, sunning to spine and back cover. Overall, a handsome and presentable volume. Now protected by removable archival cover.
